Sit at my right

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Tobit 11:5-17, Mark 12:35-37. Today’s first reading recounts the return of Tobias and his new wife, Sarah, to the house of his parents, Tobit and Anna. As they approach home, Archangel Raphael in disguise of a young man, Azariah got some fish gall as source healing for Tobit. Afterwards, Raphael revealed himself to Tobit and his family, reminding them that God has heard their prayers, reminding them to keep observing the Law of God, to live righteously and justly in the presence of God at all times.

The story of the healing of Tobit and the rescue of Sarah should indeed serve as a source of great inspiration for us as Christians so that we may always live faithfully and devoutly in God’s presence. In today’s Gospel, Jesus offers a reflection on one of the Psalms in which David describes the relationship he has with one of his future offspring. He, the patriarch and king, calls his descendant “lord.” Thus, David acknowledges the fact that one who will come from his line will be the Christ. His coming into this world heralded the coming of salvation and help for us. He reassured us of His constant presence, providing for us and guiding us always.

May the Lord take away from us all that is harmful and give us all that will be for our good! Amen!! Have a wonderful day!!!
