20 CANDIDATES CONFIRMED AT OGBERE OLOBA, OGBERE, IBADAN

-FREDERICK AKERELE & REV. FR FRANCIS OMOLADE

TWENTY CANDIDATES 26 August received the Sacrament of Confirmation for the first time since the creation of Ogbere Oloba parish.

Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin commended Rev. Fr Francis Omolade, parish priest, for inviting him to confer the sacrament in the parish, not minding the low number of candidates, instead of sending the candidates to another parish.

The archbishop told the parishioners that it is not the number that matters but adequate preparation of candidates for the reception of sacraments in general.

In his homily, Archbishop Abegunrin congratulated the candidates and prayed that the Holy Spirit would continue to dwell in them and make them true Christians and soldiers of Christ. He implored them to be good Christians having been empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

With the sacrament that you have received, you are now leaders in the Church, he said. He enjoined them to be good leaders by showing good examples that others can emulate.

The archbishop encouraged the parishioners to carry their crosses like the master who carried his cross in order to save mankind, thus became victorious.

The cross, according to the archbishop, comes in different ways and forms. It could be their families, wives, husbands, children, businesses, even health.

He called on all, especially candidates for confirmation, to allow themselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit. Stand for the truth and represent the Church well wherever you find yourselves, he said.

Fr Omolade appreciated the archbishop for his presence and thanked God for making it possible to add Sacraments of Confirmation to other sacraments already celebrated and received since the creation the parish.
